State local housing and health committee chairman Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah said Kuala Terengganu saw the most number of cases with 198, followed by Kuala Nerus (66), Setiu (57), Dungun (55), Marang (47), Hulu Terengganu (45), Kemaman (38) and Besut (27).
“A cluster is identified when there are two or more cases in a locality. So far, 10 clusters have been recorded, nine in a nursery and the other in a preschool,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.
Wan Sukairi, who is also the Mempelam assemblyman, said this after parents expressed worry on social media about their children’s health and HFMD.
He said the public is advised to take preventive measures to curb the spread and increase of HFMD cases, including not taking children with signs of infection to public spaces.
