The Muar sessions court sentenced vocational college graduate Lukman Hamidon, 21, to five years’ jail and one stroke of the rotan for raping a 15-year-old girl at a house in Batu Pahat at 1.30am on Sept 28.

Judge Sayani Nor also ordered for him to be placed under police observation for a year after completing his jail sentence, Berita Harian reported.

In another case, Sayani sentenced restaurant worker Loh Che Heng, 25, to four years in jail and two strokes of the rotan after he pleaded guilty to raping an acquaintance two years ago.

Loh was charged with raping the girl, who was 15 at the time, at a hotel in Batu Pahat at 6pm on March 2, 2023.

The judge also ordered for Loh to be placed under police observation for one year following his release from prison.

Deputy public prosecutors Othman Affan Ismail and Diyana Najihah Muhamed prosecuted both cases while the accused were represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan.
