KUALA LUMPUR:
Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail confirmed tonight that she will be contesting for the Wanita PKR chief’s post at the party’s upcoming elections, which will see her go up against incumbent Fadhlina Sidek for a second time.

Rodziah, a central committee member, said based on her experience of over 20 years, she is optimistic that she would be able to spur the wing to greater heights.

“I am also confident that this contest between sisters would not split the party,” she said at a Women’s Day event here.

Last week, Rodziah had said she was considering another run for the post of Wanita PKR chief, stating that the wing had become “lethargic”.

She claimed that numerous party members had asked her to lead the wing.

In the 2022 party elections, Rodziah lost to Fadhlina by 32 votes. Fadhlina received 18,923 votes, while Rodziah garnered 18,891.

Rodziah also said she would defend her position as Shah Alam division chief.

On March 5, Fadhlina confirmed that she will defend her position as Wanita PKR chief.

Fadhlina, who is also the education minister, reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the wing, particularly in preparation for the next general election, and the state election in Sabah.

PKR is scheduled to hold division-level elections from April 11 to 20, and its central leadership elections on May 24.
