The draft of an agreement is now in its final stages, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof said, according to Berita Harian.
“God willing, it would be resolved for Syed Saddiq. He is the only one who has responded and submitted a formal letter,” he was quoted as saying.
Fadillah also said that the government is waiting for a response from the opposition to prepare a proposal for a bi-partisan committee on allocations for opposition MPs.
“To date, with the exception of Syed Saddiq, no one has got back to me,” he said.
Last month, Syed Saddiq told the Dewan Rakyat that he had turned to modelling Raya clothes for a fashion brand in order to raise funds for his constituents.
He said that although the unity government has been in power for more than 400 days, he had received zero funding for his parliamentary service centre.
In September, Fadillah said that the government would only address the issue surrounding the draft memorandum of understanding on allocations for opposition MPs after receiving the formal documents from them.
Perikatan Nasional chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan had then said that PN was still discussing whether to accept the seven conditions proposed by the government, which the opposition had described as strange.
Besides asset declaration and support for the government, the agreement also touches upon the sensitive issues of race, religion and royalty.
