Nantha, who is at the centre of a corruption investigation, lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station at 5pm, in which he idenfitied the agent as a Pakistani named Zahid.
He said it was the agent who offered him a payment, contained in a brown envelope, “to persuade me to cooperate with him in the syndicate”.
The report comes a week after Nantha was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe from a foreign worker agent purportedly for not publishing two articles exposing a foreign worker syndicate.
Nantha was released on bail on Tuesday. Yesterday, he wrote a report in Malaysiakini giving his version of events.
He denied the claim by MACC chief Azam Baki that he had asked the agent for a RM100,000 bribe, which was later negotiated down to RM20,000.
Nantha, who has written a series of investigative reports on a foreign worker syndicate, said one of the Pakistani agents mentioned in an article he wrote had contacted him to deny his involvement in the syndicate.
He later met the two Pakistani agents mentioned in the article and was offered RM50,000 to “settle” the matter, which he refused.
Nantha said he immediately met the state immigration director to discuss the matter, but the director was unable to take action due to a lack of evidence.
MACC said last week the foreign worker agent lodged a report with the commission, alleging that Nantha had asked for a bribe, following which the agency carried out a “trap-case”.
