PETALING JAYA:
Police have recorded statements from the family members of a 19-month-old boy who was found dead last week after being reported missing for 45 hours.

Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said the police had recorded statements from Hud Aryan Nor Hafifi’s parents, grandmother, and aunt, and that there was no evidence of negligence so far.

“However, the investigation is ongoing, and more individuals will be questioned if new witnesses come forward,” he said, according to Berita Harian.

The case is being investigated for neglect under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which provides for a fine of up to RM50,000, up to 20 years’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.

Last week, Yusoff said a post-mortem had found no sign of injury or criminal elements.

He said authorities would continue their investigation to rule out possible negligence.

On Feb 26, it was reported that Hud Aryan’s body had been found caught in a tree near a river at Kampung Kerila at 4.15pm, about 3km from his grandmother’s house.
