Fadhlina to defend Wanita PKR chief’s post

The education minister reaffirms her commitment to strengthening PKR's women's wing.

Fadhlina Sidek narrowly won the Wanita PKR chief’s post by 32 votes at the 2022 party polls.
PETALING JAYA:
Fadhlina Sidek has confirmed that she will defend her position as Wanita PKR chief in the upcoming party elections.

Fadhlina, who is also the education minister, reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the women’s wing, particularly in preparation for the next general election and the state polls in Sabah.

“I want to see all the Wanita machinery fully focussed on the next election,” the Nibong Tebal MP said in a video posted on Selangor Wanita PKR’s Facebook today.

“So, God willing, I will continue standing with Wanita, empowering Wanita, as Wanita is the heartbeat of PKR.”

Her announcement comes a day after Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail hinted at a possible challenge for the post, citing concerns that the wing had become “lethargic”.

Rodziah said that while she had not decided on the matter, numerous party members had asked her to lead the women’s wing.

Fadhlina and Rodziah previously faced off in the 2022 party elections, with Fadhlina narrowly winning the contest by securing 18,923 votes against Rodziah’s 18,891.

PKR is scheduled to hold division-level elections from April 11 to 20, with the central leadership elections taking place on May 24.
