“This incident highlights the vileness of American diplomacy.
“We should be wary of our ties with the US.”
Trump, along with his vice-president JD Vance had berated Zelensky at a meeting last week.
Vance had accused Zelensky of being “disrespectful” to the US. He also ticked him off for allegedly not thanking the US for the aid it had provided.
Trump also claimed that Zelensky was “gambling with World War Three” when the latter dismissed suggestions that he should work harder to agree to a ceasefire with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky later described the fiery meeting as “regrettable”.
In November, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s diplomatic ties with the US remained strong.
However, it recently emerged that Anwar had yet to speak to Trump after he was sworn in as president for the second time. Former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming said such calls were crucial signals in the diplomatic community.
