Cops probing bag of bullets found near Bukit Jambul dumpster

Police are investigating the discovery of a bag filled with bullets near a dumpster in Bukit Jambul, in George Town, Penang, earlier today.

Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said a member of the public had filed a report on the matter at around 1.40pm today.

“An inspection found that an unidentified individual had left the bag at the location. Inside, there were empty .22 caliber bullet casings as well as live rounds,” he said in a statement.

Rozak said the case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960.

“Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the owner of the bag and why it was abandoned,” he added.

He urged anyone with information on the case to come forward and contact investigating officer Nurul Aishah Izati Zaidi at 011-21544465.
