KUALA LUMPUR:
The Johor Motorsports Racing team of two Johor princes has chosen Chevrolet as the team’s new constructor, and will race in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R this season, a statement from the manufacturer said today.

The team will be the first in the region to field the Corvette race car with two entries, driven by Tunku Panglima Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Hassanal Jefri Sultan Ibrahim, and Tunku Putera Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim.

The two princes are the younger sons of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim, who is currently serving as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Tunku Abdul Rahman, who is team president and principal driver, said: “We are happy to be the first team running the Z06 in the region, especially with two cars this season.”

The switch to Chevrolet ends the team’s partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering and Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing in the GT World Challenge in Asia and Australia. The team has won three championship titles and secured 53 podium finishes.
