KUALA LUMPUR:
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), which operates Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Firefly, will be allocating more than 200 additional flights during the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri peak travel period.

The company said it will increase flight frequencies and upgrade aircraft on key domestic routes, including Alor Setar, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Miri, Sibu, Kuching, Tawau, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu.

“The airline will also offer fixed all-in one-way fares starting from RM389 to Sabah and RM319 to Sarawak for specific red-eye flights.

“Bookings are available immediately until April 9 for travel between March 26 and April 9, exclusively on Malaysia Airlines’ official website and mobile app,” it said in a statement.

Firefly will launch a special campaign from March 7 to 20, offering promotional fares starting at RM69 for travel between March 7 and Nov 3.

MAG said Firefly will add up to 40 additional flights for its jet and regional aircraft ATR-operated flights to destinations such as Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Tawau to meet the demand.

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will also be capping economy class base fares at RM499 one-way for flights from Kuala Lumpur to East Malaysia in line with the government’s Raya festive subsidy policy.

“This applies to travel between March 27 and 30. Malaysia Airlines remains dedicated to supporting this initiative to ensure affordable fares during the festive period,” MAG said.
