PETALING JAYA: The Sibu municipal council has urged residents to brace for possible floods during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, with high tides of up to 6.5m expected during that period.
Council chairman Clarence Ting advised Sibu folk to put up flood markers along their roads given that floods were “very likely” to occur, The Borneo Post reported.
Sibu was among the districts in Sarawak hit by floods during the Chinese New Year period last month. More than 1,000 residents were forced to flee their homes.
