
Bernama reported Marzuki as saying the government would announce the fares next year.
“Currency differences will be taken into account, whether the fare is in Malaysian ringgit or Singapore dollars,” he told reporters at Menara JLand in Johor Bahru today.
Marzuki said work on the rail system connecting Malaysia and Singapore is now 50% complete.
“The installation of the track from the Wadi Hana Depot here is progressing according to schedule, with more than 65% of work completed.
“We expect track work continuing towards the Woodlands North Station in Singapore to be completed by July.
“System-related work, including the installation of track power supply components and signalling and communication systems will commence in March,” he said.
RTSO is a joint venture company between Prasarana Malaysia Bhd and Singapore’s SMRT Corporation Ltd, established to manage the transit system’s day-to-day operations.
The RTS Link is a 4km commuter rail network connecting Malaysia and Singapore from Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North in Singapore.
It will have a capacity of up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, with an expected daily ridership of about 40,000 passengers.
