This comes after the court approved the prosecution’s request to vacate today’s case management via a formal letter.
Deputy public prosecutor Ashrof Adrin Kamarul confirmed the matter when contacted by FMT.
Muniandy replaced Justice Zaini Mazlan who was elevated to the Court of Appeal two years ago.
The trial was initially scheduled to run from Sept 17-19 and Sept 23-24 last year but was vacated to give way for the ongoing 1MDB corruption trial and a civil lawsuit brought by SRC International.
The court has since rescheduled a five-day trial beginning April 21, with another five days set from May 19.
Najib, 71, had submitted a representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) in July 2023, seeking to withdraw the three counts of money laundering charges.
Ashrof previously informed Muniandy that the AGC had not reached a conclusion on Najib’s request.
The three money laundering charges were the first to be framed against the former Pekan MP in February 2019.
They were followed by a separate case involving seven charges for abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving RM42 million in SRC International funds, which began on April 3, 2019.
On July 28, 2020, the High Court convicted Najib on all seven charges in the latter case. His appeal to the Court of Appeal was dismissed on Dec 8, 2021.
Najib is currently serving a reduced six-year prison term, after the Federal Court dismissed his final appeal on Aug 23, 2022.
