KUALA LUMPUR:
The public services department (JPA) has taken disciplinary action against 311 civil servants since 2012 based on issues flagged in various reports by the auditor-general (A-G).

As of Jan 14, the disciplinary action taken by JPA included warnings, fines, delayed salary increments, demotions, and dismissals, said deputy law and institutional reform minister M Kulasegaran.

“Two civil servants have been convicted in court,” he told the Dewan Rakyat without elaborating on their offences.

Kulasegaran was responding to S Kesavan (PH-Sungai Siput), who asked about the government’s actions on issues highlighted in A-G reports, including matters of financial leakage.

He said since 2012, a total of 12,393 issues had been audited, with 11,594 resolved and the remaining 799 ongoing.

“As of today, 32 issues are being investigated by police, 138 by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and 166 by investigation committees coordinated by JPA,” he said.
