Prisons dept gets new commissioner-general

PETALING JAYA:
Abdul Aziz Abdul Razak has been appointed the new commissioner-general of the prisons department effective today, replacing Nordin Muhamad.

Aziz, 58, began his career as a prisons officer in 1990 and has remained with the service for 35 years.

He has held several positions, including director of Bentong prison, director of the department’s prisons policy, and deputy commissioner-general (security and correctional).

“It is hoped that his experience, expertise and leadership will continue to enhance the excellence of the Malaysian prisons department,” the department said in a statement.

Nordin had been the head of the prisons department since March 2021.
