Johor PH information chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said Aminolhuda, as Johor PH’s election director, would also lead the state chapter’s machinery in the next general election.
Sheikh Umar also announced that the state DAP and PKR chiefs, Teo Nie Ching and Syed Ibrahim Syed Noah, would serve as Johor PH deputy chairmen.
“Johor PH also launched its ‘Johor Rahmah’ programme, an initiative to help the rakyat and strengthen interracial ties in the community. This will be held across Johor throughout the year from Ramadan onwards,” he said in a statement.
Last year, Aminolhuda proposed that Barisan Nasional form a unity Johor government if the coalition won the Mahkota by-election, by roping PH assemblymen into the state administration.
This was quickly shot down by BN leaders in Johor, as well as DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook, who called for such suggestions to be halted.
Menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said, however, he remained open to discussing the possibility of forming a unity government in Johor ahead of the next state election.
The Johor government was formed by BN, which holds 39 seats in the state assembly, supported by PH’s 12 seats. However, unlike at the federal level, the two coalitions have not established a formal alliance in the state.
The next Johor election must be held by June 2027.
