SSP spokesman Tian Chua said it is deeply alarming that the US, as a founding member of the United Nations and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, shows no respect for the sovereignty of other nations.
He said that the protest, jointly organised by SSP and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations, will take place this Friday.
He added that the protesters will gather at 2.30pm outside Menara Tabung Haji, Jalan Tun Razak, in Kuala Lumpur, before marching to the US embassy nearby.
A memorandum would also be submitted to the US embassy by the Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Al Quds and Palestine between 10am and 11am, Tian Chua said.
He said the proposal for the forced displacement of the entire Gaza population is a grave breach of international humanitarian law and constitutes a clear act of genocide.
“The Palestinian people, like all people, have the inherent right to self-determination, dignity and the freedom to live in their homeland without fear of expulsion or occupation,” he said.
He urged civil societies to stand up against Trump’s “sinister plan” and called on Malaysians from all walks of life and backgrounds to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.
