The 54-year-old saleswoman said she was only trying her luck in placing bets based on the car plate numbers of vehicles parked in her housing area after the jackpot exceeded RM10 million.

“I accumulated 18 sets of numbers to bet on because 18 is the luckiest number during Chinese New Year.

“I only checked the results on the first day of Chinese New Year and this big ang pow was definitely the best thing that could happen in my life,” she said in a press release from STM Lottery Sdn Bhd.

The Sabahan added that she would share part of her winnings with her relatives as well as channel some into investments.

Separately, a 57-year-old designer in Selangor won RM2.2 million after some lucky advice from his customer service assistant to take a punt.

“My 20 sets of 4D numbers which consist of my winning numbers – 2896 and 6238 – are some old numbers that I have been betting on for a long time,” he said.

He said he would use the money to purchase a house for his daughter, while the rest would be put in a retirement fund.
