PETALING JAYA:
Animal welfare group Fauziah Paws Care has lodged a police report against the Kluang municipal council for alleged animal abuse and burying dogs alive.

In the report sighted by FMT, the welfare group claimed they had received pictures and videos showing council officers brutally handling several dogs.

It claimed that dogs, including puppies, were dragged while screaming in distress, with smaller and weaker dogs being thrown into mass graves while still alive.

“These methods used by the council contravene the Animal Welfare Act 2015 (Act 772),” they said in the report.

“We demand the authorities immediately investigate the Kluang municipal council and the staff responsible for this incident.”

The police report was lodged today at 11.05am at the Sungai Buloh police station by Fauziah Paws Care president Siti Fauziah Abdul Jaabar.

Meanwhile, Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said police have received a police report lodged by the Kluang municipal council yesterday.

Bahrin said police are investigating the case for defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code and improper use of network facilities or network services under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

In a statement, Bahrin said the police are trying to obtain more information about the videos and photos and called on members of the public with information on the case to reach out to them.

Separately, animal rights lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan urged the veterinary services department and police to take immediate action against those behind the incident.

“These murders are without a doubt contrary to Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The perpetrators must be arrested and charged urgently,” he told FMT.

“Failure to do so will result in a total erosion of trust in our enforcement bodies.”
