PETALING JAYA:
A 52-year-old foreigner was arrested yesterday over his alleged attempt to steal items belonging to another passenger on board a flight from Subang to Penang.

The Barat Daya district police in George Town, Penang, issued a statement today, in which it said the incident occurred during the flight when a passenger noticed an unidentified man rummaging through their luggage, Bernama reported.

“The complainant then immediately alerted the flight crew, who took swift action. A police report was later lodged at the Penang International Airport police station in Bayan Lepas,” the statement read.

An investigation confirmed that no valuable items were missing. However, the suspect was taken into custody for further questioning.

A remand order will be sought at the magistrates’ court in Balik Pulau to facilitate investigations under Sections 379/511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft.
