Shapril Ahmad, 39, pleaded guilty after four charges were read to him before magistrate Suzana Mokhtar, Harian Metro reported.
“This is not how you discipline students. You are supposed to set a good example for them, this is not how you do it,” she said.
The magistrate also ordered Shapril to be jailed for 13 months if he fails to pay the fine.
On the first to third charges, Shapril was accused of voluntarily causing hurt to three students aged 14 by slapping and throwing chairs at them.
The offences were committed in a classroom at a secondary school in Muar at 8.30am on Nov 13 last year.
The three charges were framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to a year or a fine up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
On the fourth charge, Shapril was accused of using criminal force on a 14-year-old student by hitting the back of the head, pulling the student’s hair, and stuffing paper into the student’s mouth.
The offence occurred in a different classroom at 8.30am on Nov 6. The charge was framed under Section 352 of the Penal Code, punishable with imprisonment for up to three months, a fine not more than RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.
The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Nur Amieerah Alluddin, while Shapril was represented by Nurain Sakina Zakri from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
