In a brief hearing today, Justice Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz allowed Naimah’s application, noting that the Attorney-General’s Chambers had raised no objections to it.
Hayatul also fixed the matter for case management tomorrow, when the court will set a hearing date for the family’s leave application.
Lawyer Zarifah Zuhayra Zakaria appeared for Naimah.
Last year, former finance minister Daim, his family members, and 18 companies linked to them filed for leave to initiate judicial review proceedings over the freezing of their bank accounts.
They claimed the seizure of the accounts was done in bad faith, and that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had exerted his influence over MACC in the matter.
The family is seeking to quash the freezing orders made under Section 44(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
The AGC previously indicated that it intended to oppose their application.
Daim died on Nov 13 last year. Following his death, a charge for failure to declare assets brought against him was withdrawn.
