PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin has made an open apology in court in the defamation suit brought against him by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) subsidiary Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB).

LLSB said it filed the lawsuit at the Shah Alam sessions court over an alleged defamatory statement by the Port Dickson Bersatu chief, also known as Chegubard, regarding the Selangor Maritime Gateway project.

“We are pleased to announce that based on the out-of-court settlement suggested by Chegubard, the parties involved in the lawsuit have resolved the case.

“As part of the settlement, Chegubard has admitted that the allegations he made were baseless and expressed his regret as to the effect of his statement and allegations, which have affected LLSB’s reputation and caused losses,” it said in a statement.

LLSB filed the lawsuit on Aug 8, 2023 following a statement by Badrul that was published in several publications and shared on social media.

The company said Badrul has taken full responsibility for the matter and retracted all statements he made and published on social media.

LLSB also said Badrul confirmed the statement was made without ill intent and was based on incorrect and incomplete information.

“Chegubard has also given his assurance that he will avoid making false or defamatory statements or publications in the future regarding this matter against LLSB and the Selangor Maritime Gateway project.

“His apology was made unconditionally as an admission of his responsibility and commitment to rectifying the wrongdoing committed,” it said.
