PETALING JAYA:
An Amanah Youth leader has called on PAS members disappointed with the “culture of slander” which he said is practised by a segment of the Islamic party’s leaders to join Amanah instead.

Penang Amanah Youth communications director Abrar Sadiq said politics should be used to build a harmonious and just society rather than as a platform to take down political rivals.

“As a party that upholds the principle of moderation, Amanah calls on all PAS members who are disappointed with PAS’s culture of slander and unethical politics to join us.

“Let’s put an end to slander and insults to build a united Malaysia based on the principle of ‘Rahmatan lil Alamin’ (mercy to all creation),” he said in a statement.

Amanah is a splinter party which broke away from PAS in 2015 following the latter’s departure from the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria apologised yesterday for claiming that youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh of DAP was linked to the Yeoh family of the conglomerate YTL Corporation Bhd.

Last year, Razman also apologised to housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming for claiming that the DAP vice-chairman was involved in a parade where some participants had waved China’s national flag.

The previous year, he apologised in court to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for claiming that he condoned LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) practices.

Meanwhile, last month, PAS’s Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad lost a defamation suit to DAP veterans Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, and Teresa Kok.

She was ordered to pay the trio RM830,000 in damages and costs after claiming that Kit Siang and Guan Eng were related to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng, and that Kok was a cousin of Guan Eng’s wife, Betty Chew.
