
Aiza Salzul Hanira Zulkapli, 42, said she first noticed signs of abuse on Sept 9 after picking up her son, Kaiser Al Fatih Shahfeezam, from his preschool near Jelapang.
She claimed her son had become withdrawn and refused to go to school after telling her that the teacher had pinched him on his waist, causing bruises, and hit him on the head daily.
“I recorded evidence of my child’s injuries and filed a complaint through the public complaints management system on Sept 12. I also reported the matter to the school principal and district education office.
“I thought the abuse had stopped by Dec 6, but my son continued to fear going to school as the teacher allegedly kept hitting him on the head. I filed a police report on Dec 8,” she said at a press conference organised by Perak Gerakan chairman Chek Kwong Weng today.
Aiza said she lodged a second report on Dec 14 with the police at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital after she noticed swelling and bruising on her son’s hands, allegedly from being caned.
A medical exam at the request of the police confirmed soft tissue injuries on his palms, she said.
She claimed that the teacher continued to approach her son even though he was transferred to another class, and pinched and hit him daily.
She filed her third report at the Jelapang police station on Jan 16 after her son refused to attend school.
She also claimed that her son was hospitalised for observation and referred to a psychiatrist for emotional distress.
Aiza alleged that the school justified its action by citing her son’s struggle with spelling and incomplete homework.
She said her son has changed school but still fears going to class.
“I don’t want this to happen to other children,” she said.
Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed receiving Aiza’s report on Dec 14 and said an investigation has been initiated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
He said the case has also been referred to the Perak prosecution for further action and urged the public not to speculate on the matter.
