
After a slow start, Aaron-Wooi Yik, ranked world No 5, picked up steam to defeat Kittinupong-Dechapol 21-18, 21-18 in 39 minutes.
Despite being ranked world No 101, Kittinupong-Dechapol gave the experienced Malaysian pair a run for their money by fighting for every point. It was their second match against Aaron-Wooi Yik, with the Malaysians winning both.
In tomorrow’s semi-final, Aaron-Wooi Yik will meet South Korea’s Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, who defeated China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Cheng.
The Malaysians were the losing finalist at the India Open in 2023.
Earlier, mixed doubles pairs Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah also made it to the semi-finals.
