PETALING JAYA:
Graphic artist and activist Fahmi Reza has challenged Bingkor chief Daniel Palangi to initiate legal proceedings, after the latter said that Keningau native leaders were seeking a sogit or customary compensation from him for allegedly disrespecting Sabah governor Musa Aman.

In a post on Instagram today, Fahmi said he was ready to go to the Keningau native court to answer any accusation against him.

“Do send me a letter of summons. I am not afraid.

“The majority of Sabahans know I am no enemy of the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) community and Sabah’s people. Our common enemies are the corruptors and those who protect the corruptors.

“I am prepared to have a sogit imposed on me, or to go to jail to defend my right and freedom to use art as a weapon against our nation’s corruptors,” he said.

Palangi was reported by The Star yesterday as saying Fahmi’s caricature, allegedly of Musa, considered highly offensive by the Keningau native court, had incited anger particularly within the KDM community.

He said the decision to pursue the lawsuit was unanimously agreed upon during a special meeting with Keningau native chiefs, native chief representatives, and village heads.
