Lorry driver slaps Puspakom staff after failing inspection, cops launch probe

Police have launched an investigation after a man slapped an employee at the Johor Bahru Puspakom centre over a failed lorry inspection.

Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said the incident occurred last November but a video of the incident went viral recently, Bernama reported.

He said the incident at 5.40pm on Nov 18 involved a 59-year-old Puspakom customer, who slapped the victim, 28, after his lorry failed the inspection conducted by a staff member.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Section 323 carries a maximum penalty of a year’s imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
