PETALING JAYA:
National singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao failed to maintain his giant-killing feat when he lost to China’s world No 21 Weng Hong Yang in the second round of the India Open today.

The world No 28 went down 18-21, 12-21 in a match that lasted 44 minutes in New Delhi.

In his opening round yesterday, Jun Hao stunned China’s world No 6 Li Shi Feng 18-21, 21-17, 21-17.

Jun Hao, who suffered opening round exits in his two previous tournaments, took early control in the first game today but lost it midway after making numerous unforced errors. He could not keep up with the pace in the second game.

Weng will face India’s Kiran George who upset Frenchman Alex Lanier in another match.

Earlier today, Malaysia’s top mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai qualified for the quarter-finals.
