PETALING JAYA:
National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the India Open with a smashing display as they defeated China’s Xie Hao Nan-Zheng Wei Han this evening.

The Malaysians had little difficulty overcoming their younger Chinese opponents 21-10, 21-18 in 33 minutes. This was the first time both pairs had faced each other.

In the quarter-finals tomorrow, the Malaysian pair will face Thailand’s Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavaranukroh who defeated Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto 24-22, 16-21, 21-16.

Aaron-Wooi Yik had made it to the final of the 2023 India Open and were semi-finalists last year.

Malaysians have won the men’s doubles title only twice since the tournament’s inception.

In 2010, Zakry Abdul Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazan lifted the title while Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah were champions the following year.
