Cops nab 4 for allegedly beating up man in Semenyih

Police have arrested four people for allegedly beating up a man in Semenyih, Kajang, last month, following a video of the incident that went viral.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said investigations revealed that the incident occurred at 5.45pm on Dec 29 last year.

He also said the suspects, aged between 32 and 36, were detained between last Wednesday and today.

“With the arrests, we hope to uncover the motive behind the attack. The case remains under investigation,” he said in a statement.

Naazron also said that three of the suspects had prior records involving drugs and other criminal activities.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Naazron urged those with information on the case to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Amirul Abd Wahab, at 013-5495236.

The two men with the wooden plank and the steering lock were seen hitting the victim, who was cowering and shielding himself from his assailants.
