In a Facebook post, Noor Hisham urged netizens to be aware of fake statements using his name and photos which are going viral again.
“I am going to take legal action and I hope this will be a lesson to all. Please be careful and don’t believe such irresponsible claims by desperate scammers,” he said.
Noor Hisham shared a screenshot of a sponsored Instagram post by an account named “Sneezapusk” which described the former health DG as “being known for treating people without pills”.
This isn’t the first time Noor Hisham, a surgeon by training, had his name and image used without authorisation.
In November 2023, Noor Hisham accused a company selling traditional Chinese herbs, Koong Woh Tong, of “irresponsible marketing” after it used his image and name to promote its business.
In a picture he had then posted on X, Noor Hisham showed what appeared to be a newspaper cutting in which his image was used in relation to an article on a herbal tea concoction.
The matter was settled in December after Koong Woh Tong said Noor Hisham had never endorsed any of its products and that it was not the brand’s intention to mislead the public.
In a joint statement, Noor Hisham and Koong Woh Tong said “any misunderstandings as such have therefore been mutually resolved”.
