All Malaysian shuttlers out as Wei Chong-Kai Wun lose 3-game thriller

Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun's exit follows the defeats of the two mixed doubles pairs in the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open.

There will be no Malaysians in the five final matches of the Malaysia Open badminton championships tomorrow after doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun made their exit at the semi-final today.

They put up a gallant display before bowing out to China’s Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi in a 76-minute thriller. The world No 14 pair went down fighting to the 18th ranked Chinese pair 26-24, 16-21, 15-21.

Their defeat at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, followed the exits of national mixed doubles pairs Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

They lost their semi-final matches to Thai and Chinese pairs, respectively.

In the men’s doubles final tomorrow, Bo Yang-Liu Yi will meet South Korean pair Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, who defeated India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the other semi-final match.
