National mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei continued their fine run at the Malaysia Open to storm into the semi-finals by easily defeating Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa-Natsu Saito today.

The world No 5 pair displayed great confidence to win 21-11, 21-18 against the 14th ranked Japanese pair in a match that lasted 35 minutes at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, sending the home crowd into a frenzy of joy.

Tang-Jie-Ee Wei were on the offensive from the start and took the first game easily in just 14 minutes. They won the second game in similar fashion in 21 minutes.

The duo will meet the winners of the quarter-final match between China’s Feng Yan Zhe-Dong Ping Huan and Taiwan’s Yang Po Hsuan-Ling Fang Hu later today.

With this win, Tang Jie-Ee Wei have a good chance of reaching their second consecutive final after the BWF World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, last month.

Earlier, fellow mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai also made it to the semi-final.
