PETALING JAYA:
The education ministry will begin disbursing early schooling aid (BAP) of RM150 from next Monday for students in Year 1 to Form 4.

The ministry said the aid would be disbursed to Year 1 students and Form 6 students currently in their second semester on Feb 16.

Meanwhile, aid for new Form 6 students will begin on July 1.

The government has allocated a total of RM791,250,000 specifically for BAP payments of RM150 to each student as a one-off payment.

More than 5.2 million students are expected to benefit from the programme, aimed at helping students secure school supplies for the new school year.

The initiative is being extended to Form 6 students for the first time this year.

The aid will be disbursed through cash handouts to the parents of primary school students.

Secondary school students can receive the aid directly through cash handouts or through their bank accounts or those of their parents.
