PETALING JAYA:
A promotional video for Visit Malaysia 2026 that has come under fire for failing to feature Islamic attractions, including mosques, appears to be unavailable on several of the tourism, arts and culture ministry’s platforms.

A check on YouTube showed that the video is unavailable.

“This video is private,” the message read.

The video is also no longer found on Facebook.

Earlier this evening, Bersatu Youth demanded the ministry withdraw the video, saying it clearly neglected the country’s Muslim majority by focusing solely on places of worship like churches and temples.

Adib Shaharuddin, who is an executive committee member of the wing, said the video was yet another example of the ministry’s carelessness and lack of awareness regarding the sensitivities of Muslims.

The 41-second video showed multiple tourist attractions, including Central Market in Kuala Lumpur, the Sky Bridge in Langkawi, Batu Caves in Selangor, Christ Church in Melaka, and several cultural performances.

Separately, PAS Youth information chief Nadzir Helmi criticised the video, saying it failed to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of Malaysia’s mosques which served as symbols of the federal religion.

The wing also questioned whether the absence of mosques in the montage is a result of an unintentional mistake or “a deliberate act driven by a certain agenda”.

He also urged the ministry to provide an explanation and take immediate action on the matter.

FMT has contacted the ministry for comment.
