PETALING JAYA:
One of the judges hearing Najib Razak’s application on his purported house arrest addendum order has questioned the silence on the matter by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Court of Appeal judge, Justice Firuz Jaffril, said there was no affidavit filed by the AGC to deny or challenge the existence of the royal order, Berita Harian reported.

“There was no letter from the AGC or any other respondent challenging the addendum. It is as though you acknowledge the existence of this addendum.

“The absence of any action to challenge the addendum’s existence disturbs me,” he was quoted as saying during submissions by senior federal counsel Shamsul Bolhassan.

Earlier, Shamsul said the contents of the purported addendum order allegedly allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest was never discussed by the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB).

He said the only decision made at the FTPB’s 61st meeting on Jan 29 last year, chaired by then Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, concerned the halving of Najib’s 12-year jail term and a reduction of his fine to RM50 million.
