PETALING JAYA:
Men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has withdrawn from next week’s Malaysia Open as he has not fully recovered from an ankle injury he suffered at the BWF World Tour Finals last month.

“His participation in the India Open and Indonesia Masters this month is also still under consideration pending his full recovery,” said Team LZJ in a post on X.

Zii Jia, the world No 6, was set to face Taiwan’s Su Li Yang in the opening round of the Malaysia Open scheduled from Jan 7-12, which is the curtain raiser to the Badminton World Federation World Tour 2025.

Zii Jia’s camp said he has not fully recovered from the right ankle ligament injury sustained in Hangzhou, China, last month.

At the Malaysia Open last year, Zii Jia suffered an early exit, losing 21-16, 19-21, 15-21 to China’s Lu Guang Zu.
