PETALING JAYA: A popular comedian has been sentenced to six months in prison in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, over a drug offence, according to a report.
Berita Harian quoted a source as saying the comedian was sentenced to jail in November after being tried in court but could be released earlier on a good behaviour bond.
“He is expected to complete his prison sentence in April,” said the source.
The Malaysian embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, previously confirmed that a Malaysian had been arrested in Jeddah in October on suspicion of drug possession.
It declined to reveal the person’s identity but said the comedian had been receiving consular assistance following his arrest.
