Aksyah, who is also Kinabatangan Bersatu chief, said he was relinquishing all positions within the party with immediate effect, Bernama reported.
“I have submitted my resignation letter, dated Dec 28, to Sabah Bersatu chief Ronald Kiandee. This decision was made independently and without any external influence,” he said in a statement today.
He expressed his full support for chief minister Hajiji Noor, who is also the GRS chairman, and the coalition’s mission in upholding Sabah’s rights and interests as enshrined in the state constitution.
Aksyah highlighted Hajiji’s often-quoted slogan, “Rumah kita, kita jaga” (Our home, our responsibility), as a narrative that aptly underscored the importance of ensuring Sabah is led and managed by local leadership while maintaining strong ties with the federal government.
Earlier this month, the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) announced its withdrawal from Perikatan Nasional, citing a key conflict.
Its president, Yong Teck Lee, said PN’s decision to contest the upcoming Sabah state elections clashed with SAPP’s long-standing stance that all 73 state constituencies should be contested exclusively by local parties.
