PETALING JAYA: A 36-year-old suspect has been arrested after a man was punched and struck on the head with a dustbin lid at a restaurant in Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam, in Penang last Friday.
A viral video of the incident at 2.45am on Friday had gone viral, prompting the cops to launch an investigation before arresting the suspect, Bernama reported.
“The cause of the incident is related to a personal misunderstanding. The suspect punched the victim in the face and struck his head with a dustbin lid,” Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Helmi Aris was quoted as saying.
The suspect is under remand until tomorrow.
Helmi said investigations are being held for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and criminal intimidation.
A viral video clip of the incident showed a man assaulting the victim, who is said to be a worker at the restaurant in Machang Bubok.
