Snatch thief dies shortly after snatching woman’s handbag

The 32-year-old suspect tried to escape but rammed into the iron fence of the Batu Kawa General Operations Force brigade.

A 32-year-old snatch thief died today shortly after snatching a handbag from a woman who was riding pillion on a motorcycle in Batu Kawa, Kuching.

Padawan police chief Irwan Hafiz Radzi said the suspect had snatched the handbag from the victim, who was riding pillion with her child on her husband’s motorcycle at about 1.30pm.

The suspect then attempted to flee but rammed into the metal gate of the General Operations Force camp in Batu Kawa. “Medical officers confirmed that the suspect had died on the scene,” he said in a statement.
