PUTRAJAYA:
The road transport department (JPJ) will enhance its digital enforcement efforts and explore the application of artificial intelligence technology to improve the detection of traffic offenders, JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said.

Aedy said the initiative is aimed at strengthening enforcement against offenders who pose high risks of being involved in accidents, leading to deaths.

“This technology enables JPJ to improve enforcement effectiveness and reduce offences,” he said in a statement today.

He said enforcement officers would also increase their checks at key locations, especially on highways and areas with high accident rates. JPJ would also launch an extensive public awareness campaign to educate young and high-risk drivers on the importance of adhering to road safety regulations.

JPJ is also collaborating with other authorities to enhance road infrastructure and ensure all vehicles adhere to safety standards.
