45,237 summonses issued to commercial vehicles from January to November

Bukit Aman traffic police say they carried out 235,616 inspections in 5,747 operations nationwide.

The highest number of summonses issued was for operating without a valid public service vehicle licence, followed by using telecommunications devices while driving.
PETALING JAYA:
Police have issued a total of 45,237 traffic summonses to owners of commercial vehicles for various offences nationwide from January to November.

The summonses were issued during 235,616 inspections of commercial vehicles in 5,747 operations, Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department director Yusri Hassan Basri said.

Of the total, 28,298 were issued for offences by lorries, 349 for buses, and 16,590 for multi-purpose vehicles, including vans registered under companies.

“The highest number of summonses was for operating without a valid public service vehicle licence, with 10,859 notices issued,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

This was followed by offences for using telecommunications devices while driving (9,254), expired motor vehicle licence or road tax (8,380), running the red light (3,676), and expired driving licences (2,179).
