
The accident, which occurred at about 5am near Manjung, saw Nor Fadhilah Azlan and her two-year-old son dying at the scene, Bernama reported.
Perak fire and rescue department assistant director Sabarozi Nor Ahmad said the mother and son were travelling in a Perodua Kelisa.
A 24-year-old man and a three-year-old boy, who were also in the car, escaped with minor injuries
Two other male victims in a Proton Wira also sustained minor injuries.
He said first-responders were alerted to the incident at 5.15am. By the time they arrived, members of the public had removed the victims from the damaged vehicles.
2 men die in crash with 10-tonne lorry
Separately, two men died in Johor Bahru after the Proton Waja they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a 10-tonne lorry just after midnight.
The pair, both aged 43, died at the scene.
One of them had to be extracted by firemen from the wreckage, Sinar Harian reported.
The lorry driver, 36, did not suffer any serious injuries.
In another accident near Jasin, Melaka, two female students from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka died after the Perodua Myvi they were travelling in rammed into the divider at Km187.6 of the northbound PLUS highway.
The accident, which occurred at about 6.30am, led to the two passengers, both aged 19, being trapped in the vehicle.
Medical officers later confirmed they died at the scene due to severe head injuries.
The driver of the car and another passenger escaped with minor injuries.
