Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the suspects were remanded for two days, starting today, to facilitate investigations under Sections 147 and 427 of the Penal Code for rioting and causing mischief.
“We take this incident very seriously and urge members of the public to avoid engaging in unlawful behaviour,” he said in a statement.
He said the suspects, aged 22 and 24, were arrested at their homes in Kuala Lumpur and Seri Kembangan earlier today.
On Saturday, Cheras police chief Aidil Bolhassan said they received a report from an auxiliary policeman at the station over the incident, which included acts of vandalism.
A video clip of the incident has also been widely shared on social media, with netizens condemning the behaviour of the football fans, especially in vandalising public property.
