PETALING JAYA:
The Russian transport ministry is holding negotiations on establishing direct flights to Malaysia, Pakistan and Brazil.

Its minister, Roman Starovoyt, said Russia is holding negotiations with many airlines from friendly countries.

“Our route network is changing constantly. We are ready to work based on the principle of parity, mutual respect and compliance of all international rules,” Bernama quoted him as saying in an interview with the Russian News Agency (TASS).

Starovoyt said it is necessary to discuss passenger traffic with the airlines first before launching air services with any country.

“I believe that to properly develop a route, it is necessary to start with charter flights. This allows passengers to understand how the tourism infrastructure operates, whether trips can be planned, and how security is ensured.

“If there is sufficient passenger traffic, it becomes possible to redirect certain aircraft to these destinations,” he said.
