PETALING JAYA:
Two fishermen reported missing after their boat drifted in the waters off Pantai Kerachut in Kuala Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau, Penang, a week ago, were found safe in the waters of Aceh, Indonesia, today.

Barat Daya police chief Sazalee Adam said a vessel from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency is bringing Ikmal Hakimi Ismail, 22, and Nor Hasrul Abdullah, 25, home, Bernama reported.

The vessel is expected to arrive at the Batu Maung jetty at about 7am tomorrow, Sazalee said.

Berita Harian also reported Ismail Ibrahim, 51, the father of Ikmal, as confirming their rescue after receiving news from the police this morning.

Ismail said Ikmal, who is developmentally disabled, was rescued along with Hasrul by fishermen.

“I haven’t been able to contact Ikmal, but from the picture we have received, they look alright, just a little darker,” he said.
