PETALING JAYA:
Do not repeat old political habits of interfering with court cases, Sabah PKR Youth has told Sabah Umno Youth after its chief suggested that all charges filed during Pakatan Harapan’s administration after the 2018 general election be dropped.

Sabah PKR Youth communications chief Fekirie Gobet warned Sufian Abdul Karim against urging the government to abuse its power, which he claimed had been done during Barisan Nasional’s administration.

“Umno Youth should abandon its old practice of interfering in court cases to release their politician friends,” he told FMT.

Sufian’s call for all charges filed during PH’s administration to be withdrawn followed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s statement yesterday that the prosecution of several cases after the 2018 general election was flawed.

Sufian said it was clear the charges filed in 2018 were politically motivated and done out of spite, and also to “kill off” certain individuals and the government’s political rivals.

However, Fekirie said the unity government under Anwar does not compromise on matters related to corruption or abuse its powers to drop cases.
